Why is the timing right to start Harvesting Rainwater?

Changing climate patterns, urbanization and population growth put a great deal of pressure on surface and groundwater supplies.

We at DynamicWholeScapes strongly believe that the development of alternate sustainable water supplies, along with conservation, is the only way to ensure that our communities have enough fresh water to keep up with ever growing demands.

This is where Rainwater comes into play.

In coastal BC, the average roof sheds hundreds of thousands of liters of rainwater per year; most of it in the winter months between November and April. Most households and businesses today, still channel this water away as quickly as possible. Few realize they could create onsite alternative systems to use this rainwater on their properties.

With Rainwater Harvesting, you build water independence and create your own private
reservoir to be used as you see it fit.

What can Captured Rainwater be used for?

Captured rainwater can be channelled for potable (drinkable) or non-potable use, inside and outside a home or business.

Indoor Uses: Toilet flushing, laundry, shower and bathing, and drinking (if treated).

Outdoor Uses: Irrigating food crops, landscapes and gardens; providing water for pets, livestock and wildlife, power washing and vehicle maintenance.

Emergency purposes: An onsite water source can be used in the event of an earthquake or for fire protection.

Rainwater Harvesting: Active and Passive Systems.

Active Rainwater Harvesting refers to the capturing, conveying, filtering, storage and distribution of the collected rainwater.

Passive systems use landscape features to, -reduce runoff, encourage water retention, allowing for evaporation or slow infiltration to groundwater.
