What can Captured Rainwater be used for?Captured rainwater can be channelled for potable (drinkable) or non-potable use, inside and outside a home or business. Indoor Uses: Toilet flushing, laundry, shower and bathing, and drinking (if treated). Outdoor Uses: Irrigating food crops, landscapes and gardens; providing water for pets, livestock and wildlife, power washing and vehicle maintenance. Emergency purposes: An onsite water source can be used in the event of an earthquake or for fire protection. Rainwater Harvesting: Active and Passive Systems. Active Rainwater Harvesting refers to the capturing, conveying, filtering, storage and distribution of the collected rainwater. Passive systems use landscape features to, -reduce runoff, encourage water retention, allowing for evaporation or slow infiltration to groundwater. |
